I have tried most popular drugs and innevitably being the person i am i have found myself addicted to multiple substances. When you are about to quit a drug you have to ask yourself why are you choosing to stop? What exactly is making you want to stop? sometimes a goal of total sobriety or of quitting entierly can work for a while (weeks to a month) then land you rigth back where you started if you arnent perpared and know why/how your use is negatively effecting you.
once you know why you want to quit (e.g financial, mental and physical health prolems). It is important to decide how. there are a few ways to do this and they are diffrent for everybody. Some people go cold turkey sober not take anything but most relapse because even if you know why you want to stop it can be a massive challange. Sobriety is not ussally the answer, Harm reduction by switching substances only using on certian days or in certian situations (just like the assholes who only smoke when they drink) This is a good way to be more comfotrble using less or quitting all together. Switching can be still unhealty but if its better for you id reccomend it (ive used this in the past with a methamphetamine problem replacing it with opoids and eventually nothing)
for example ive recently been problem drinking (50 beers a day) but have chosen to stop but cannot do so cold turkey so instead im smoking pot and taking a little bit extra of my psychiatric medicaion (an extra .25 seroquel) which has helped ALOT and am not suffering from debilitating withdrawls.
